Energy Consumption

By working with BRE Environmental Assessment Method's (BREEAM) EcoHomes initiative, this development has been able to receive a 'very good rating' by significantly exceeding the requirments regarding the issues of: energy efficiency/carbon dioxide, water efficiency, surface water management, site waste management, household waste management and use of materials.

Carefully chosen appliances and building materials has reduced the carbon footprint of Dragonfly Apartments - for residents this means much lower energy costs. The average UK home has a class E rating with an efficiency of around 50%. At Dragonfly Apartments each home can expect to achieve around 85% efficiency placing it in the class B category of energy efficient homes.

All apartments at Dragonfly have been rated as 'very efficient homes' that should achieve much lower energy costs. The energy performance certificates estimates heating and hot water cost should total around £230/year* for a two bedroom apartment.

Aerated taps allow for efficient water consumption while not appearing to use significantly less water. Two button flush toilets can significantly save on a households water consumption.

*Based on standardised assumptions about occupancy, heating patterns and geographical location, the above value provides an indication of how much it will cost to provide lighting, heating and hot water to this home. The fuel costs only take into account the cost of fuel and not any associated service, maintenance or safety inspection. The Energy Performance Certificate has been provided for comparative purposes only and enables one home to be compared with another. Always check the date the certificate was issued, because fuel prices can increase over time and energy saving recommendations will evolve.
